Abebe's
style, a mix of traditional and modern art, relies on the use of the
wood of wanza, a tree native to Ethiopia. Abebe engraves his
carefully selected wood pieces before painting them using mixed media. To give
more depth to the scenes, he also inlays various materials such as beads, and
silver and copper jewels. His
two major themes are music and family life.
